About
FOR THE COMING STORM.
Stormshadow is a one-person operation. I design and make every bag myself, here in New Zealand.

ABOUT ME.
I spent years in LandSAR and rope rescue, and these days I volunteer with Coastguard. Outside of that I climb, mountaineer, kayak, dive, and mountain bike — so most of my time is spent somewhere the weather can get at me.
I've been out in most of what this country throws around: thunderstorms at sea, lightning in the mountains, rain and wind in the rocks and scree. You learn pretty quickly which gear you can trust.
WHY I MAKE THIS STUFF.
Rescue work gives you strong opinions about equipment. Gear either holds up or it doesn't. So I build bags the way I want them for my own trips and callouts: overbuilt, simple, and hard to kill. Nothing fancy — heavy-duty materials and honest construction.
Every bag is made by hand, by me. If something's not right, I'm the one who hears about it, and I'm the one who fixes it.
At your best when the weather's at its worst.
